BARGAINS ON THE BROADKILL FESTIVAL is a great way to celebrate the end of summer in coastal Delaware. Bargains will take place from 9:00 a.m. to 3:00 p.m., bringing together locals, visitors, and southern Delaware’s entrepreneurs. Enjoy fun and festivities, including juried artisans, crafters, food, and entertainment. Make sure to visit downtown shops, restaurants, and attractions too.
THE 24TH ANNUAL IRISH EYES BROADKILL RIVER CANOE AND KAYAK RACE begins at 10:00 a.m. Organized by Irish Eyes Pub and Restaurant, explore the beautiful and scenic Broadkill River and take home winning bragging rights. Entrants compete in various categories including single kayak, tandem kayak, tandem canoe, four-person canoe and stand-up paddleboard. Race entries include race t-shirts and a post-race party. Preregistration is available by logging onto irisheyespub.com or 9:00 a.m. the morning of the event.
THE GREAT DUCK RACE begins at 2:00 p.m. when thousands of rubber ducks will be released into the Broadkill River while spectators cheer them on. The entrant whose duck is the first to cross the finish line receives a cash prize of $500 from the Milton Chamber of Commerce. Twenty-four additional winners receive cash prizes donated by Chamber members. Duck sponsorship prices are 1 for $5.00, or 5 for $20.00. Participants can sponsor a duck prior to the event at The Mercantile at Milton on Union Street, by emailing chamber@historicmilton.com, or at the Chamber table the day of the event.
